How Are Ear Moulds Customised?
As everyone’s ears are different, getting a custom ear mould is a personalised process. When you get your ear mould, an audiologist will take a mould (or cast) of your ear using soft putty. Here’s the process:
- The audiologist will place a small foam block inside your ear to keep it steady.
- Then, soft putty is gently placed into your ear, and it will mould to the shape of your ear canal.
- After a few minutes, the putty becomes firm, and the audiologist will remove the mould.
- The mould is then sent to the manufacturer to create your custom ear mould.
