Assistive Listening Devices (ALD)

Certain people with normal hearing or people with a hearing loss that do not require the use of a hearing aid may find benefit with the use of an assistive listening device (ALD). These devices assist individuals who have trouble hearing the television, stereo or music. An ALD can help to make the sound take precedent over the background noise, rather than making everything louder. Some ALD’s can be used in place of hearing aids and some can be used with a hearing aid/s.

Individuals who are eligible under the Australian Government Hearing Services Program have access to a subsidy to cover the cost of an ALD. Rebates are also available to individuals who have cover for extras under their private health insurance.
